The Popcorn Zoo -
The Associated Humane Societies, founded in 1906, is the largest animal sheltering system in New Jersey. They are comprised of three shelters located in Newark, Forked River and Tinton Falls. Their Forked River facility also includes the Popcorn Park Zoo. Established in 1977, Popcorn Park Zoo is a sanctuary for abandoned, injured, ill, exploited, abused or elderly wildlife, exotic and farm animals and birds. But what makes Popcorn Park so special is that each animal was rescued from suffering, exploitation and/or death - each has its own unique story to tell. You will learn these stories as you walk through the Zoo. You enter a quiet world where all the residents were once in danger and now are safe. If youíve never been to the Park itís worth the trip.
My mother always loved donating to the Popcorn Zoo and so in her honor, I carry on the tradition. To learn more about this wonderful organization go to www.ahscares.org
